Welcome Neighbor!

Dear families,

This is one of the most wonderful times of the year! It is a pleasure to have your child in our classroom. Our students are embarking on a new adventure of fun learning. To start of the year I will be sending this parent survival handbook that has been assembled to help you understand our homework requirements and other important information that will enable us to make this a very positive and rewarding year. We feel as though open lines of communication between the parent, student, and teacher are the key to promoting our educational climate to be successful. We are looking forward to working with you and your child. Together we can make a difference!

Sincerely,

Ms. Ontiveros

This week students will be engaging in procedural texts

Procedural texts tell us how to do something (step by step). I am excited and looking forward to do following with our students. We will also follow recipes as an example of procedural text. We will watch videos on "How it's made." Warning* Students may come back home wanting to back a pizza. Have a great week!

Creating a number line

We know our little neighborhood has been working with numbers 0-120. This week have been reviewing numbers from 0-50, then  numbers 50-99 and lastly numbers 99-120. Today we our little neighbors received random numbers and together our neighborhood worked together to create a number line from smallest to the largest number.

We are thankful!

Before our wonderful Fall break. Students and teacher will have time to learn and reflect on our celebration of Thanksgiving. This year I have decided to focus on how this holiday was created for us to slow down and appreciate all the things that we have and make us who we are. Today students had an opportunity to learn about the meaning of being thankful and reflect on the things they are thankful for. We also made colored our own turkeys! I am thankful for this wonderful neighborhood we have created and for the kind neighbors we have become to each other. Happy Thanksgiving to my friendly neighbor and their families!
